I was really happy at that time, yet I just translated into chinois as soon as possible to her; however I didn't want to translate the "proper noun" into their words. Because I know that American law belongs to the common law(case law), there are many difference between other countries which use the civil law. If you don't major in law, it's no use to translate the legal terminology. I know a little bit because I have studied the basic law in Taiwan. But Taiwan's civil law system inherited from the German system, it's also different from the U.S. That chinois girl thought the law is same in general direction, I just don't want to explain in detail. And there is a joke to tell the difference of law between the 4 Asian countries.
Hong Kong: All permitted, unless prohibited by law.
Singapore: All prohibited, unless permitted by law.
Taiwan: All permitted, including prohibited by law.
Chine: All prohibited, including permitted by law.
