Tutoring a pupil

Several months ago, I took a tutoring case for a 5th grader. Before that, his father told me a lot about his son. This boy refused to learn anything, nor any preference. The only things to do every day are to play computer games and watch TV. And actually he is not addicted to internet or television, just he feels boring anything and these things can kill his time. Also, his father didn't know whether this boy goes through a rebellious phase or not. This boy did a conflict with his homeroom teacher, and he seemed to hit the teacher in the process of pushing. It made him reject learning seriously. At the beginning, I also thought it is a hot potato. Then I made some promises with him at the first time. We played some mathematics game. Frankly speaking, I don't need to prepare anything as English speech before I teach. However, I am not very smart, just because it is all my memory of childrenhood.
Finally he started to change his attitude, but he still doesn't like learning at all. I think I cannot change his personality of laziness. And his father hopes I can teach him English in this summer, because he always gets 0 for his father.

Since he is on summer vacation now, school will give him some summer works. Then this afternoon we finshed one of his works ─ drawing his grandparents or writing a composition about his grandparents in 500 Chinese words. How lazy he is, of course he chose the painting. Yet he always give up when he met the setbacks. I had to amend his errors next to him.
When we finished this work together, he felt incredible, and he asked me whether there such a place exists in the world, I told him,"If you wanted to do that, you can build this kind of colorful house in the future. Don't doubt it! Anything is possible."

Next I taught him English from basic. He thought English is so difficult, so he gave up learning English. Then I promised him it would not be difficult. We would play the game. First, I opend the computer and let him choose his English name. His name is Daniel. Then I taught him from A to K, I think it's enough to remember for him. And you will see what I drawed for him.

Later we counted the number one to ten and played the poker game for "Pick Red Up". It is a kind of counting poker game to add up to 10. The rules are easy and similiar with Blackjack. The two cards add up to 10. And the J,Q,K match the same suit. But remeber just the diamond and heart are taken into account the points. And the only exception is the Spade Ace, it is taken into for 20 points. We played 2 rounds, perhaps he still could not remeber how to read the eight and nine. However, he didn't complained that English is too hard.
Follow I also taught him 11 to 13, and we started to play the "Slapjack", also known as "Heart Attack". He said that it was unfair, because he wasn't familiar with number in English. He had suggested me that we played it in Chinese. I repled him, "No no no, I just want to let you know the numbers in English. If you are afraid of losing, you can concentrate to learn English now. Then it would be fair." Of course, he lost at last, and he kept saying to me that he might suffered a heart attack.
Finally I taught him 14 to 25, then we played for "Bingo".

And I plan to take him to Kaohsiung City Zoo in this month, then it also can teach many animals and things.
