Dragon Boat Festival

Dragon Boat Festival is celebrated on May 5th in lunar calendary. And actually this festival is to celebrate a patriotic poet of Chu country─ Qu Yuan. Now we all misunderstood Qu Yuan, has been saying he is a Chinese poet, I think if he knew that, he must die without closing his eyes and turn in his grave. He jumped into a river to commit suicide because his King didn't adopt his proposal and let his country Chu eventually became a part of Qin country, and the Qin King claimed he was unified the whole of China and he is a Emperor not just a King of a small country. It was about the present-day Shaanxi, Hubei, Henan Province, Beijing and parts of Shandong Province in the land of china. So Qu Yuan is a Chu people, he didn't want to be a subjugated people for Qin (current china think they were unified in Qin).

I think something special is that Qu Yuan is homosexual, and he has fallen in love with his King, that's why he was feeling betrayed, and our people are fond of talking the ancient celebrity who is homosexual or bisexual.

And because Chu people didn't want the fish eat Qu Yuan, they feed the rice for fish. Nowadays people eat the Zong Zi to commemorate him. Also we have the dragon boat race on this day.

And this photo is my city's mascot─ water fairies. The blue one is "Siung ge=雄哥", and the pink one is "Gau mei=高妹."
